Cape Town Civic Centre

We were appointed as the main contractor for this particular project and as a result we were not only responsible for the replacement of the escalator, but also the coordination and supervision of the other trades on the project.

This project had various challenges due to the fact that it was an existing and operating building. The existing escalators were situated in areas where the space below them were either public traffic areas or designated offices.

The two upper level escalators were particularly challenging as they were running from level 3 to level 4 and were situated above the open volume area within the Cape Town Civic Center. Specialized scaffolding as well as rigging equipment had to be used to remove the old escalator and install the new escalators.

None of these challenges however stopped our capable and dedicated team from delivering and successfully completing the project.
